WOMEN'S DAY, REALLY???

Yesterday was celebrated the International Women's Day. The first IWD was created in 1910, by Clara Zetkin in the second International Conference of Working Women held in Copenhagen, and was celebrated for the first time on 19th March of 1911 (not 8 March).

While having Women's Day, there is still too much violence and discrimination against us. Violence against women takes different forms, including domestic violence, rape, girls's trade and forced prostitution, among others.

It's a real shame that today women are still being sold or that it's more liable to punishment to steal a cow that to kill a woman in some states of Mexico (like in Tamaulipas).

"Violence against women is perhaps the most shameful human rights violation. It knows no geographical boundaries, culture or wealth. As long as it continues, we can not say we really made progress towards equality, development and peace."

Kofi Annan, Secretary General of the United Nations
